In order to fulfill this mission, Goodwill provides a wide array of Workforce Development related services.
COMING SOON - Vocational Evaluations:
Certified evaluators will offer assessment of basic skills pertaining to work to determine the appropriate level of employment services for participants.
Sheltered Employment Services:
Goodwill Industries of North Central PA, Inc. operates an integrated sheltered workshop licensed by the Department of Public Welfare for individuals with severe disabilities.
Sheltered workshop participants work in an integrated retail setting to enhance employability and provide an opportunity for advancement into competitive employment.
A trained Program Specialist works directly with all participants to develop goals and strategies with a primary focus on transition to community-based, competitive employment.
Personal Work Adjustment Training (PWAT):
Designed as a program for individuals with disabilities that have little/no work experience, the PWAT program is a great opportunity to learn very basis work skills (i.e., arriving to work on time, attendance, following supervisor instructions, appropriate work behaviors, etc.)
Participants are guided by a trained Program Specialist throughout the 20-day program and will receive assistance related to employment success and retention.
Participants of the PWAT program receive a paycheck during the program.
Community Based Work Assessments (CBWA):
Paid work assessments to determine appropriate work possibilities for individuals with disabilities.
Participants are able to sample competitive work settings while gaining valuable training regarding appropriate work behaviors, following employer rules and regulations, developing beneficial employer/co-worker relations, and much more.
Participants receive a paycheck while they obtain real work experience.
Trained Employment Specialists assist in all aspects of the CBWA process.
Supported Employment Services:
The supported employment program offers participants the opportunity to obtain full-time or part-time employment.
Through the facilitation of a trained Employment Specialist, participants are guided through the job seeking process provided assistance with the completion of job applications, development of a resume, mock interviews, etc., until the time of job placement.
Following placement, the Employment Specialist provides one-on-one training to assist the participant to learn the required job tasks, develop relationships at the job site and provided tips on retention strategies to maintain competitive employment.
Employers receive direct support in the training and development of their newly hired associate.
Driver’s Education Services:
Goodwill Industries of North Central PA, Inc. operates a Driver’s Training school that is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Classroom based training offers education to assist in the process of obtaining a learner’s permit.
Practical instruction offers participants the opportunity to learn how to safely operate a vehicle.
The purpose of the Driver’s Training school is to facilitate transportation for individuals facing life challenges to encourage employment.
Goodwill Works Job Readiness Training:
Goodwill Industries of North Central PA, Inc. offers an Organizational Trainer to provide both classroom and individualized training pertaining to job readiness skills.
Over twenty areas of job readiness training can be accessed through this program and include topics such as – Conflict Resolution, Money Management, Customer Service, Motivation, etc.
Additional topics can be provided by request.
Goodwill Works Educational Partnership:
Goodwill Industries partners with several school districts to provide job readiness and job shadowing opportunities for youth enrolled in Special Education/Emotional Support classrooms.
Partnerships are currently active with – Brockway Area School District, DuBois Area School District, Punxsutawney Area School District and Wellsboro Area School District.
Goodwill Industries of North Central PA, Inc. is a proud partner of the PA WORKWEAR program in the following PA counties: Cameron, Clarion, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Tioga and Warren.
Goodwill representative assist in providing appropriate interview and work-related clothing to individuals referred from organizations affiliated with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
As a partner of Central PA Community Action, Goodwill assists in providing tax preparation services to local community taxpayers.
Through partnership with Pennsylvania Industries for the Blind and Handicapped, Goodwill provides janitorial services throughout numerous locations within our territory (i.e., Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Penn Dot locations, DuBois Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, etc.).
Janitorial contracts are operated by individuals with disabilities that have been determined to be unable to maintain competitive community-based employment.
Over 75% of the janitorial service staff has been diagnosed with a severe disability.
In 2011, Goodwill Industries of North Central PA, Inc. provided services to almost 700 individuals facing life challenges
